    • Tips for Promoting Your Organization:

      • TIP 1: Share your values and culture. Tell your story. Are your district’s core values on the job postings page and advertisements for open positions? Do you have a slideshow or video on your application page that shares your vision for the future and how potential candidates can help you get there?

      • TIP 2: Compile desirable characteristics that can be communicated to potential applicants. Ensure that the descriptions of the district, your community, and your Total Rewards System are accurate and highlight valued attributes. Learn more about how your Employee Value Proposition can highlight total rewards for unique personas and grab candidate attention with this EVP Scavenger Hunt.

      • TIP 3: Engage staff members as brand ambassadors. Short video of teachers, principals, and district leaders is an opportunity to market your district.

      • TIP 4: Provide a preview of what it’s like to work in your organization. Showcase employees from your district or school in videos and social media to give potential applicants insight into what it would be like to work in your district or school.

      • TIP 5: Share your story in visible and targeted places. Use multiple channels, such as job fairs, social media, college news sites, streaming audio, billboards, radio stations, and local evening news to attract a larger pool of applicants.

    • Introduction to Social Media: Learn the basics of social media recruiting to improve how potential applicants view your school or district.

    • Advertise Open Positions: Use the Ohio Education Job Board to promote available openings.

  • Job Posting Guide: Tips to help you post with confidence.

Job Description Considerations: Building position descriptions that best represent your organization and attract employees you'll retain for the long haul.

  • Identifying Teacher Preparation Programs: Use the Title 2 Reports to find programs with minority and hard-to-staff position candidates.

  • While winter and spring have traditionally been times to begin recruitment, there is no true "season" to recruiting in education. It should occur year-round.
