Supporting Principals as Human Capital Leaders

Ohio is deeply committed to supporting principals and assistant principals. A recent report on principal impact from the Wallace Foundation states, “Principals really matter. Indeed, it is difficult to envision an investment with a higher ceiling on its potential return than a successful effort to improve principal leadership.”

To support building leaders, the Ohio Department of Education has launched an Ohio Principal Leadership Supports webpage and Principal Chat series.

The webpage includes a resource page grouped by topic and aligned to the Ohio Standards for Principals. It also highlights information on educator licenses, national and Ohio-based education associations, and higher education. It links to the Ohio Professional Learning Directory that serves as a curated catalog of professional learning resources providing educators with more choice and content providers.

Ohio’s Human Capital Resource Center is one of the many resources highlighted to support principals. Additionally, principals are encouraged to attend a Human Capital Essentials training for a fun and engaging experience designed with actionable strategies for immediate implementation.
